A live profile, stories, a private account, or today's posts
Instagram shows a login wall to every logged-out visitor and every server. There is no working anonymous live viewer, and this page does not pretend to be one.
How to see old Instagram posts
Enter a username. PeekVault asks the Internet Archive for every capture of that profile page and opens the latest one in the reader. The year chips show how far back the record goes; pick 2016 and you see the profile as it was in 2016, including the grid of posts if the crawler managed to load it. For an account people link to, such as @natgeo, there are captures for most months since 2013. For a personal account with a few hundred followers there are usually none, because nothing ever pointed a crawler at it.
A post link works the same way, against the post's own URL. Captions and the first comments generally render. Photos render when the archive saved the image alongside the page, which is common for older captures and hit-and-miss for recent ones. Nothing here is fetched from Instagram itself: the reader is an Internet Archive page with the toolbar removed, and the only Instagram link on the page is the one that opens the live profile in a new tab.
Request a capture: the actual vault
When a public profile has no captures, the useful move is to make one. The Request a capture button opens the Wayback Machine's Save Page Now with the profile URL filled in. Within a few minutes the archive fetches the page and stores it with a timestamp, and a repeat search on this site finds it. Because Instagram shows the crawler the same login wall it shows you, the capture is often just the header, bio and counts. That is still a dated public record of what the profile said on that day, which is what most people come here needing.
Why this works when viewer sites don't
Instagram has blocked logged-out viewing of profiles since 2021 and has steadily closed the gaps that viewer sites used: guest endpoints, embed pages, cached JSON. Every anonymous Instagram viewer still advertising today either runs stolen login sessions through a proxy, which fails as soon as those accounts are banned, or serves cached data from before the last block, which is why the newest post it shows is often months old. Both kinds carry ads that outnumber the content.
The Internet Archive is the one public source Instagram has not closed, because it crawls slowly and stores only what a logged-out visitor could see. That is a narrow window. PeekVault does not widen it; it makes it easy to look through, tells you the date of what you are seeing, and lets you add to it. Straight answers
Is this an anonymous Instagram viewer?+
No. It shows captures the Internet Archive already made of public pages, which are days to years old. If a site claims to show you any Instagram profile live and anonymously, it is either using someone's stolen login session or showing stale cached data, and it will break within weeks.
Why does my search return nothing?+
Because the archive never crawled that profile. Crawlers follow links, and most Instagram accounts are never linked from anywhere the crawler visits. Public account? Click Request a capture, wait a few minutes, and search again. Private account? No capture will ever exist.
Can I see who viewed my profile, or will they see that I viewed theirs?+
Neither. Instagram does not expose profile viewers to anyone, and captures from web.archive.org never touch the account. Story views are the one thing Instagram does show the owner, and stories are never captured.
Why do the photos not load in the capture?+
Instagram serves images from a separate CDN with expiring links. The archive saves the page and, when it can, the image files; when it could not, you see the caption with a blank box. Older captures, roughly before 2020, load more images because the page was simpler.
What does Request a capture do?+
It opens the Wayback Machine's Save Page Now for the profile URL. The archive fetches the public page and stores it. Because Instagram shows a login wall to the crawler too, the saved copy often contains only the header and bio, but that is still more than nothing, and it is dated.
Can I see a deleted Instagram post?+
Only if the post's URL was captured before the deletion. Paste the link and check. Deleted posts from small accounts almost never have captures; deleted posts that were reported on in the news sometimes do.
Is using this allowed?+
Yes. Reading Internet Archive captures of public pages is ordinary web use. PeekVault does not log in to Instagram, does not scrape it, and does not store what you look at.
